Latest Information On Aggregate Delivery

lagan1Lagan Construction has issued new information regarding the delivery of aggregate for the runway and road resurfacing work planned for St Mary’s:

Following on from the shipment of aggregate for these projects on Thursday and Friday last week the next delivery of material is now expected to dock at St Mary’s Quay on Thursday evening this week (22nd May).

It is proposed to off load this cargo during the period from 6pm Thursday evening until 9am Friday morning.

It is possible that the off-loading may have to continue on Friday night from 6pm onwards if the exercise is not completed in the one night.

Small changes to the off-loading procedure are being made wherever possible to take account of the feedback that has been received from the public. For example, not switching off and restarting tractors at hold points, checking all trailers to eliminate squeaks and the bodies banging on the chassis.

The route will be the same as last time from the Quay, via Hugh Street, Church Street, the Old School, Telegraph Road, Parting Carn Farm and to the site. The return journey will be the same with the empty trailers passing along the Strand rather than Church Street.

Also during the initial stages of the off-loading a second excavator will be used to speed up the process to try to achieve the 1 night duration. As the vessel contains the same amount of materials and the trailer sizes are no different to what was used before, then there will be the same number of trailer loads.

Please note that start of the discharge may vary slightly as it is dependent on the arrival of MV River Trader.
