Scilly Not Affected By Police Front Office Closures

police station 4Scilly’s police station won’t be affected by the plans announced today to close some station front offices in the region.

Devon and Cornwall’s Police and Crime Commissioner, Tony Hogg, asked the Chief Constable to find £12m of savings from the police budget over the next four years.

Mr Hogg says they have earmarked front offices that are not well used by the public for closure.

Some, he says, are visited by fewer than ten people a day on average and he argues that is not sustainable in the current financial climate.

But Mr Hogg’s spokesperson confirmed that St Mary’s police station is not one of the offices listed by the force for closure.
