St Agnes Church should have another stained glass window installed in time for next Easter.

The Parochial Church Council has heard that the Diocese has approved the commission by St Mary’s glass artist Oriel Hicks.

Canon Paul Miller says the installation will continue the island theme.

Last spring, Oriel’s three-panelled window design featuring the island’s lighthouse was installed.

This second window will depict gigs going out to a shipwreck, but they won’t look like the current island boats. Oriel says the image is set in the 1890s and there won’t be much colour on the gigs. They’ll be dark, representing pitch.

She hopes to start work later this summer and is just waiting for the frame to be finished.
