Hell Bay Hotel has been highly commended in the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence in Cheltenham last night.

The Tresco Estate-owned business was one of five finalists who made it through to the national Small Hotel of the Year category.

Part of the judging process was a visit from a ‘mystery shopper’ who said in his report that he was delighted that the hotel had maintained, and even improved on, their standard from nine years ago. That was the last time they’d made it through to the finals.

Manager Philip Callan puts their success down to an excellent team and always listening to what the customer wants, so they can keep improving.

The Islands’ Partnership says the commendation was “richly deserved.” They said it’s “great to see Scilly up there with the very best of what’s on offer across England.”

VisitEngland says the awards ceremony acts as a beacon for tourism businesses from across the country, encouraging them to raise their game and become members of this quality elite.
