St Mary’s Road Resurfacing To Begin Next Week

road closed signThe £1.45m project to resurface some of the roads on St Mary’s starts next week and is set to run in stages between Friday 16th May through to August.

Drivers are being asked to remove their vehicles from the highway at places where the road surface is being re-laid.

The first stretch to be treated will be Porthcressa Road, between the 16th and 20th of this month, then Church Street between the Town Hall and Well Cross will be worked on, starting on the 21st.

Church Road from the Parish Church to Pilots Retreat will be resurfaced between the 23rd and 28th of May and then Old Town Road from the school to Ennor Close will be improved between 5th and 11th of June.

After that workers will continue to resurface the roads in the worst condition, including Telegraph Road, Jerusalem Terrace, The Bank, The Strand, Hugh Street and the Garrison Arch to the Star Castle.

The work is being undertaken using a specialist batching plant brought over by contractor Lagan Construction of Belfast. They’re using the kit to resurface the runway at the airport.
