Chairman Criticises Officers For Not Presenting Reports

wesleyan chapel 2The Chairman of the Council has criticised officers for not being present when their reports are being presented.

In Tuesday’s Policy and Resources Committee, Cllr Amanda Martin said she was “not delighted” about officers being absent from the meeting.

Four reports written by the Assistant Chief Executive, the Human Resources Manager, and the Corporate Governance and Resilience Lead had to be explained to members by the Head of Finance, Iain McCulloch.

Amanda said this was happening “far too many times, with different officers and different reports.”

She added, “I’d like to think we can call upon the specialist advice of various officers we employ, to advise councillors at meetings.”

It later transpired that two of the officers were actually on agreed annual leave.

At the meeting, councillors also appointed a new Deputy Section 151 Officer. That’s the person responsible for ensuring the Council’s financial affairs are conducted legally.

Accountant Sarah Chodkiewicz will take on that role.
