Walk Scilly Monday Update

Day 2 of Walk Scilly saw over 70 walkers stride out across Bryher, St Martin’s and St Mary’s – 29 to St Martins, 32 to Bryher and 11 around the Garrison.

Today, Day 3 is perhaps the busiest day of the festival says Amanda Pender of the Islands’ Partnership, with over 100 people stepping out across the islands and many more involved on other festival related activities . There’s a new walk around Lunnon Farm with mother and son duo Penny and Ned Rogers which is also full with 30 walkers. There are however some spaces on this afternoons walk around the North End of Tresco – this starts at 2.20 on Tresco with the boat leaving St Mary’s at 2.00pm – walkers will need to book their tickets at the TIC early to be sure of a place – the walk will take in Cromwell’s Castle, Charles Castle and depending on time the north end of the island across to view Men a Vaur and St Helen’s.

This evening The Isles of Scilly Museum is also opening its doors from 5.00 – 7.00 for Walk Scilly patrons – tickets on the door and there will also be a presentation on the marine life of Scilly at St Martin’s Island Hall starting at 5.00, tickets on the door.

There is also a supper boat tonight to St Martin’s leaving St Mary’s at 6.00pm, return times to be advised but between 8.30 – 9.00. Adams Fish & Chip Shop is also hoping to open – (he has to catch some fish! – we will confirm later on whether or not he was successful or they ‘got away’).

Local residents of St Martin’s will be on the quay to meet and greet supper goers and to point them in the direction of their choice – thanks to all the volunteers.

Finally when the sun goes down the Star Walk on St Mary’s will take place departing from the Town Hall at 8.30 with Steve Sims – tickets are available for this walk from the TIC.
