A man was airlifted off the cruise ship MV Discovery last night.

The vessel had left Scilly en route for Guernsey when the elderly male became unwell.

The vessel, with 609 passengers on board, stopped in Mounts Bay at around 7.30pm while the RNAS Culdrose helicopter winched the 81-year-old passenger off the ship. He was transferred him to Treliske hospital.

Falmouth coastguard coordinated the rescue.
