Government Gives Money For Sea Defence Repairs In Scilly

Storm 2nd November 2013 mermaidThe Chancellor has announced that money will be made available to repair storm damage on St Mary’s.

In a statement issued following George Osborne’s budget speech yesterday, the government confirmed that a £140m flood package will include repairs to the what they’re terming the breakwater at the Mermaid Wall.

Cabinet Office Press Officer Wailim Wong says the amounts for each project haven’t been decided yet and the total allocated nationally should cover the cost of all the schemes.
