Success For St Mary’s In Mainland Football Tour

football Garrison Field sign 2The St Mary’s Football Club players have been successful in their annual mainland tour fixtures.

Fog on Friday meant 10 of the 15-strong party had to travel to Cornwall on the jet boat.

But it was worth it. They beat Porthleven 4-1 on Saturday.

Two years ago the islanders secured a 5-4 victory there.

On Sunday, the club beat the Dynamo Choughs 7-4 on the artificial turf at Mount’s Bay School. That compares with a 4-4 draw and a 6-3 win when they played that mainland side in 2013.

It could be the last Cornish tour for a while. Some members would like to do something different next year, with a tour of Guernsey one of the options likely to be discussed at the AGM in the autumn.
