Confusion Over Reporting Of Airport Disruption

airport from aboveThe Council has been asked to correct a St Mary’s Airport report claiming that there had been no disruption to flying in December, after someone pointed out that there was.

Cllr Richard McCarthy queried the claim made in the document, which was presented to the Transport Committee.

It stated that there had been zero no-flying or disruption days during that month.

Richard said he recalled flying “issues” up to Christmas and New Year, which led to Sunday opening.

Howard Cole from the airport management team confirmed that there had in fact been two days of disruption in December and admitted that Richard was, “probably quite right in the true sense of the word.”

The airport, said Howard, had opened on the days following disruption to flight days.

Richard said the report ought to be amended.
