New Manager For Co-op’s St Mary’s Store

coop signSt Mary’s Co-op has appointed a new manager. 28year old Jamie Haughton will take over from Bob Gilmour who has worked for the organisation for 43 years.

Jamie, who hails from Hertfordshire, has worked for the Co-op for 11 years.

10 years ago he became one of the youngest managers in the business after serving as a deputy manager at a number of stores.

He’s already visited the islands and met the store team ahead of his arrival at the end of February.

Jamie says he’s aware of the unique position of the St Mary’s store and he’s researched the challenges faced by the store. He says he can’t promise miracles overnight but he is excited about starting his new role.

When Jamie takes up the post he says he will be running regular customer forums along with Phil Richards and Co-operative Membership, to listen to feedback and suggestions.

That’s something Garrison resident Alan Davis has repeatedly campaigned for.

I agree it doesn’t need miracles, just initiative, good management and not only to just listen to the customer but, act on their concerns and requirements!

    I don’t need miracles-just fresh vegetables!

Let’s hope Jamie can convince senior Co-op management to improve the service by ensuring essentials are more readily available and non-essentials, often stocked by other shops, are removed from the shelves for the benefit of all.
