Equipment Arrives For Start Of Moorwell Clearance

rubbish dump 3Equipment for the removal of waste at Moorwell has arrived on site.

The kit, including an excavator, was brought over on a landing craft at Porthmellon Beach on Sunday lunchtime. The Council used the same boat to take an old digger that had been stored at the dump back to the mainland.

Fencing has been erected around the site ahead of clearance to contain rodents which may be dislodged when the rubbish bagging begins in a few days.

Council Director of Place, Craig Dryden, says this means the islands are one step closer to removing the legacy waste from Moorwell. It’s that waste that forms the bulk of the Moorwell Alp.
