Championship Anniversary Wrist Band To Raise Cash For St Mary’s Gig Club

gig bracelet 25 yearsIt’s hoped that a new souvenir to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the World Pilot Gig Championships will raise money for the St Mary’s Gig Club.

St Mary’s business owner Dave Townend, who has the exclusive rights to produce merchandise for the event, has commissioned a special silver-coloured wrist band inscribed with the dates ‘1990-2014.’

These will be going on sale for £2 each.

Dave said he wanted to create something to mark the anniversary and also help out St Mary’s Gig Club.

He helped the club to trademark the championship title several years ago, when it was clear the event was growing, and says it’s a useful source of extra funds for the club.

The proceeds will go towards upkeep of the equipment and purchasing a new boat in the future.

He says the best clubs need one every few years now just to stay competitive.

Dave has ordered an initial run of 500 bands, which will be available at Sportsmode in Hugh Town.
