Wildlife Trust Seeking New Trustees To Guide Their Work

wildlife trust flagDo you have an interest in the way Scilly’s wildlife and landscape is managed? If so, the islands’ Wildlife Trust will be keen to hear from you.

They’re looking for new trustees to join their board.

Manager Sarah Mason says the role is similar to a school governor, with legal responsibility for the organisation and the direction it takes over the next few years, although Sarah is responsible for the day-to-day running of the group.

Trustees need to be residents of the islands.

She says it’s an exciting time to be part of the Trust. They’ve recently secured ten years of funding to maintain Scilly’s landscape.

And Sarah says the group are working on a number of new projects in education and marine conservation.

They currently have nine trustees but can have up to twelve.

One of their most recent recruits, Paula Smith, is having to resign because she’s been appointed as the official financial controller for the Trust.

Sarah says that means they’re keen to find someone with financial experience who could potentially be appointed as their Treasurer.

Anyone interested in standing should contact Sarah on 422153.
