An illness that has affected some Park House staff is not the norovirus, or winter vomiting bug.

Procedures to limit any spread of disease through contact were put in place by management last weekend and medical advice sought after some staff became unwell.

Head of Adult Social Care Gareth Peters says their day-to-day hygiene procedures advise staff who have been ill to stay away from work until they have been symptom free for 48 hours.

This, he says, complements their other standard hygiene procedures that are designed to safeguard the residents from infections, such as following hand-washing procedures.

We understand that there were discussions over the need to restrict visits to the residential home last week.

Gareth says they’d like the public to also stay away from the home for a period if they have been unwell and if uncertain, to contact the Health Centre for advice.
