Search Is On For The Face Of Scilly Tourism

hugh town centre summerAre you the face of tourism in Scilly? The Islands’ Partnership wants to find a local who’s prepared to enter a national contest as Scilly’s representative.

It’s hoped that if our nominee wins the UK-wide ‘Tourism Superstar 2014’ contest in May, the islands would gain extensive publicity.

Last year the competition, organised by VisitEngland in partnership with The Daily Mirror, generated more than 60 pieces of press coverage, including exposure on BBC Breakfast.

IP Tourism Coordinator, Amanda Pender said they’re searching for someone who is passionate about Scilly as a visitor destination and who goes beyond the call of duty to make every visitor’s experience extra special.

She said Scilly’s nominee would need to be passionate, enthusiastic and knowledgeable about our tourism. She want’s the community to give their suggestions.

Anyone applying would have to be prepared to be filmed for website videos in London during February and potentially on live TV if they win at the spring event.

You need to apply by December 20th to the Islands’ Partnership. If there’s more than one nominee then members will vote for the person they wish to represent them.
