Locals Turn Out For School Christmas Market

school ptfa christmas fair 2013The new head teacher of the Five Islands School says she values the work of the islands’ Parents Teachers and Friends Association.

Linda Todd was speaking at the Christmas Market on Saturday, attended by dozens of locals.

She described it as a great event that brings the wider community into the school.

And it launches a busy Christmas period at the school with nativity services at the off-island bases, as well as concerts at the Carn Gwaval school site and the Parish Church.

Linda says the fundraising efforts of the PTFA are impressive and appreciated.

They’re a small committee but work very hard, she says, and believes their work is important because they raise money for those “little extras” for the children.

The PTFA says both Father Christmas and the café were busy throughout the event so they’re hoping to have at least made the same as last year, if not more.
