St Mary’s Police Launch Tax Disc Campaign

police landrover backSt Mary’s motorists are being warned to make sure their tax discs are up to date. The islands’ police will start checking vehicles today.

Sergeant Colin Taylor says his team has a duty to report out-of-date or missing discs but officers don’t have to inform the vehicle owner and they don’t leave a ticket.

Colin says they usually find 4 or 5 vehicles without current road tax each year and he’s found discs that have been up to a year out-of-date previously.

Owners of vehicles that are not used need to fill out a Statutory Off the Road Notice.

The crackdown only affects vehicles used on publicly maintained roads. That means Colin and Mat won’t be visiting the off-islands.
