The Isles of Scilly Wildlife Trust has appointed three new trustees.

They are St Agnes-based ornithologist Doug Page, St Mary’s artist and accountant Paula Smith and Sabine Schraudolph, owner of the Country Guest House.

Paula says she was asked if she would consider being a trustee for the Wildlife Trust because of her financial background. She says she was honoured to be approached and considers it “a great privilege” as she recognises and values their important contribution to the islands.

Sabine was also approached by the Trust in the spring. She feels that looking after Scilly’s wildlife and landscape is very important and she’s agreed to serve because of the benefit the Trust can bring to tourism.

Sabine recently joined the World Pilot Gig Championships Committee for the same reason.

At their AGM last week the Trust outlined their goal to restore sustainable, wildlife-rich landscapes in Scilly. They see their role as the wildlife champions for the islands and aim to inspire locals and visitors to support them.
