Islands’ Partnership Wants To Get Scilly Tweeting

islands partnership logoIslanders wanting to take their first steps into social networking are being encouraged to join a free ‘Twitter for Beginners’ course.

Carolyn Garman, the Digital Content Manager at the Islands’ Partnership, is running the session.

She says it’s designed to show how useful Twitter can be as a marketing tool to engage customers as well as providing up-to-date information.

A recent survey showed that 72% of people are more likely to buy from businesses if they’ve followed them online for a period of time.

Carolyn says it will be very informal and hands-on.

She wants people to bring their laptops, smartphones and iPads so you can sign up and get tweeting straight away.

And you don’t need extensive IT experience. As long as you can use the internet or open an app, that will be enough, she says.

There are already some good examples of companies that regularly use social networking in Scilly.

But she says only about 25% of IP members actually use Twitter, and they want to encourage more to give it a try and have the tools at their fingertips.

The workshop is taking place on Thursday 28th November, from 10.30am to 12.30pm, and Carolyn is asking people to sign up by this Friday.

It’s free for Islands’ Partnership members. Non-members should call the office on 424036 or email enquiries@islandspartnership.co.uk if they’d like to attend.
