Bangers Lead To St Mary’s Fire Call Out

fire station signSt Mary’s fire crew may have been saved any Bonfire Night calls out on Scilly this year, but they had to deal with bangers on Saturday lunchtime.

A smoke alarm was set off in the police station cottages at around 1pm.

It was caused by burnt sausages.

Sergeant Colin Taylor says the accommodation and the police station is on the same circuit and it wasn’t possible to cancel the emergency call in time.

He wouldn’t say whose cooking caused the call out, but said it was the wife of one of the officers.

Sergeant Taylor is the only officer who lives with a spouse.
