The all-night charity sports fundraiser on Friday has been called off.

Organisers had hoped to raise cash to fund younger islanders’ sports clubs trips to the mainland, with a 24-hour rowing event.

But too few teams had committed to it to make it worthwhile.

Last year four groups took part, while this time only a single team had confirmed their participation.

Sports Hall Manager Tess Lloyd says there have been a lot of sporting and charitable events this year and people may have “had their fill.”

Rowember will be rescheduled for 2014 and after that it’s likely to held every other year, says Tess.
