Scilly Businesses Hoping For Success At Tourism Awards

hugh town centre buntingFour businesses from Scilly will have their fingers crossed this Thursday as they hear who’s won the Cornwall Tourism Awards.

Hell Bay Hotel on Bryher, Juliet’s Garden Restaurant on St Mary’s, The New Inn, Tresco and the St Martin’s Dive School have all been shortlisted.

Anna Cawthray from the dive school said she was “a bit stunned” to get to the final stages, but thinks it’s a great opportunity for all four businesses on Scilly to be noticed.

She hopes it will entice more visitors to come to the islands.

Partnership Chairman Chris Gregory said they were keen to have more representatives from Scilly at this year’s awards, which is why they encouraged people to enter.

Juliet May, owner of Juliet’s Garden, said she’d never thought of going for the awards, even after over 30 years in business.

In the end, nine businesses came forward with entries.

Chris says being recognised for a quality product offering and high standards of service is a great way to remind people of the excellent welcome that awaits visitors to Scilly.

He wants to wish the four finalists all the best for Thursday evening.
