Duchy Plans To Improve Bryher’s Roads

bryher townBryher’s roads could be improved if planners accept a Duchy proposal to concrete unmade tracks.

Land Steward Chris Gregory says they want to fill, “some of the gaps between existing sections of concrete on the main routes.”

At the moment some of the most used routes are simply surfaced with stone, sand or ram.

This includes the access to Fraggle Rock, the roadway from Hillside to the Community Centre and the section from All Saints Church towards the new road to Church Quay.

Chris says if planners agree the work at the next Planning meeting on the 19th November, then the improvements will follow over the course of the next year or so.

In their application, the Duchy says that the visual impact of the brushed concrete road surface decreases over time as sand blows over it.
