The St Mary’s relief lifeboat was called out to help fishing boat that had broken down last night.

RNLB The Duke of York, under the command of Stuart Hitchens, was called out at 10.30pm to go to the aid of the Newlyn-based vessel, Intuition.

It suffered mechanical failure about 9 miles south east of the islands.

The lifeboat towed the stricken vessel halfway back to Newlyn and the Penlee lifeboat took her the rest of the way.

The lifeboat was back at St Mary’s at 2.10am.
