A team of novice gig rowers who completed the 28-mile Land’s End to Scilly crossing for charity in July are coming back to the islands twice next year.

The Bath Rugby Club Foundation raised £16,000 for community projects with their challenge this summer.

They reached the islands in just five hours.

Now the group will make the trip again next July.

Organiser Halena Coury says they hope to bring a second boat too.

The club has been promoting the sport and the islands recently through presentations and events in the Bath area.

And they’ve reserved accommodation so they can take part in the World Pilot Gig Championships. They’ll borrow a gig from a Cornish club for their male crew and hope to field a women’s crew too.

Halena says they’ll be training with Cape Cornwall and Weymouth Gig Clubs.
