Council Promises To Improve Lives Of Disabled Children

town hall windows signThe lives of disabled young people and their families in Scilly should be better in the future.

That’s the promise from the Council’s Health and Wellbeing Board, after they signed up to the Disabled Children’s Charter.

These boards have been set up across England to bring together health and social care leaders, to understand local needs and how to address them.

Joel Williams, who heads up Children’s Services says this will ensure disabled children and youngsters with additional needs aren’t ignored.

The islands’ Parent Carer group supported the plan earlier in the summer.

The Council will continue to work with them in the planning and delivery of services. Joel says families will also have a say in the decision making process.
