Magazine Seeks Columnist To Write About Life In Scilly

boats in harbour 2The Islands’ Partnership, the tourism body for the islands, is backing a campaign to find a local who wants write about living here.

Cornwall Life Magazine has around 40,000 readers each month, with subscribers as far away as Scotland and with online readers in the States.

Editor Carol Burns says the idea of a regular Scilly page came about after she worked with the tourism body, while planning a special feature on Scilly for February’s edition.

Carol says the successful columnist would be paid around £75 for each article.

The regularity of the column is subject to discussion with the winner.

She says they are looking for someone who lives in Scilly and loves the islands.

The content should be about what makes the place so special, she says, and applicants need to write 400 words on that theme.

Alasdair Moore, who is on the Partnership board and used to edit The Islander magazine, will judge the entries with Carol. They need to be in by 20th December.

Entries should be sent to by 20th December.
