Man Cautioned For Damage After Old Town Party

old town bay dry stone wallA local man has received a police caution following several acts of damage to a fence and a car in the Ennor Close area.

It happened following a party the weekend before last.

Sergeant Colin Taylor says the islands’ police were contacted about the incidents and asked to investigate. Officers conducted house-to-house enquiries, seized forensic evidence and took photos.

A man was identified and later interviewed at St Mary’s Police Station. Whilst being questioned he made a full admission and offered to pay for the damage and apologise to those affected.

Sergeant Taylor believes the acts were driven by an excess of alcohol and that resulted in antisocial behaviour late at night, which disturbed a number of people.

He says that these sorts of incidents are rare in Scilly and although residents may feel they do not wish to bother the Police, he says you should call 101 or 999 if there is any disorder in your part of the islands.
