Partnership Offering Accommodation Owners Chance For Expert Advice

hugh town from BuzzaGuesthouse and B&B owners are being given the chance to get expert advise on how to improve accommodation ratings.

The Islands’ Partnership, the tourism body for Scilly, has booked Quality in Tourism assessors who are coming over to offer pre-inspection visits.

Sophie Hughes of the Tourist Information Centre is urging islanders to book the experts, who will then give their properties “the once over.”

There’s a charge for the visits, which will take place on the 16th and 17th of October.

Sophie says a professional hotel guest may see areas that need work that owners themselves could miss.

They can also help you realise what is required to get a higher rating. Sophie says that can be particularly important if you are selling the business.

Getting a higher rating can sometimes be achieved with a few small steps, such as providing local eggs for breakfast.

And she believes that it’s important to make sure you’re pitching your place to the right market. There’s nothing wrong with being a no-frills, basic accommodation provider, Sophie says.

The key is being realistic and not raising expectations so visitors get disappointed, she says, because that can bring negative comments on TripAdvisor.
