Partnership Looking For New Board Members

islands partnership logoScilly’s tourism body, the Islands’ Partnership, is looking for locals who want to help shape our tourism sector.

They are holding an election for directors at their AGM on October 22nd. It will be the first time members have been able to elect representatives.

Four positions will be available. The board decided against putting every position up for re-election to ensure continuity.

Chairman of the Partnership, Chris Gregory, says the organisation is about finding the solutions that benefit the industry and the destination collectively.

And while people with experience in tourism bring benefits to the board, Chris says they are not necessarily looking for a hotelier or guesthouse owner.

He says applicants simply need to be, “in tune with what our visitors are demanding“ and must be prepared to go the extra mile.

Chris says there are significant responsibilities and the duties shouldn’t be taken lightly. The reward will be the sense of satisfaction as the Partnership helps turn the local economy around.

Applications, in writing, need to be sent to the Chris at the partnership office in the steamship company building, by October 2nd.
