hospital nhs sign 2NHS preparation plans for this winter will be discussed at a public meeting of the Kernow Governing Body on St Mary’s next week.

The board of the local health service will meet at the Old Weslyan Chapel on Tuesday.

It’s their first official meeting here since they took responsibility for commissioning decisions when the Primary Care Trust was abolished in April.

If you go along you’ll hear a presentation explaining how all health, social care and community services in Scilly and Cornwall are working together to reduce the risk of patient care being affected by viruses or the weather this winter.

Some local residents will be invited talk about their experiences of NHS care in Scilly.

Governing Body member Dr Francis Old, who works with the Helston Practice that operates our Health Centre, says he hopes islanders will attend.

The Governing Body will also receive an update on NHS Kernow’s finances and performance and their response to the Francis Inquiry report into failings at Mid-Staffordshire Foundation Trust will be shared.
