Two young members of St Mary’s judo club returned from a weekend competition with gold and bronze medals.

And 14-year-old Harry Stone has gained the Welsh National Judo champion title in his under 60 kg class, even though he’s not Welsh, and, oddly, the event was held in the English city of Hereford!

Harry was accompanied by two under 10-year-olds, Keith Guy and Jevon Hughes.

Keith won his first three fights and lost two and came away with bronze in the under 30 kg section.

Dave Stone from the Judo Club says anybody can enter the Welsh Championships and a group from the islands last attended four years ago.

As they have now started the school year it was difficult to send a team so everybody attended as individuals.

But Dave hopes that they’ll be able to enter a number of Club members at the National Championships this November.
