Scilly’s Parent Teachers Association Appoints New Chair

The Five Islands School

The Five Islands School

The Parents, Teachers and Friends Association has now appointed a chairman.

Their annual general meeting on September 12th was poorly attended and it wasn’t possible to fill the position made vacant after Sam Mallon retired because of work commitments.

Jenny Hicks has now come forward and the committee has accepted unanimously her offer to take on the role.

The group is appealing for more parents to join and help the fundraising.

Their events raise cash to buy equipment or fund pupils’ activities not covered by the school budget.

Rose Didlick, Marian Gibson, Anna Wild, Lucy Greenlaw, Jo Hathaway, Liz Duffy-Griffiths and head teacher Linda Todd make up the committee.

They say that giving up an hour to serve refreshments or bake a cake occasionally would be appreciated and would benefit children enormously.
