Council Host Follow Up To Airport Emergency Exercise

airport from above26 people have taken part in an exercise in planning an emergency response to a plane crash at St Mary’s airport.

Representatives from the Council, the Fire Service and the other 999 personnel joined staff from the Steamship Company for Tuesday’s session at the Old Wesleyan Chapel.

Rhona Holland is the officer in charge of Emergency Planning.

She says it was the follow-up meeting to last year’s Operation Jubilee exercise at the airport last year.

Rhona says the exercise highlighted the close working, which exists between different organisations on the islands and also reveals things what could be done better or in a different way.

These planning scenarios are a requirement of the airport’s Civil Aviation Authority licence.
