The sale of fittings and fixtures from the former secondary and the primary schools has raised £1,200 for the Council.

The auction total will be paid into Council funds.

Chairman of the Authority, Cllr Amanda Martin, says she’s pleased, as she has been pushing for the Council to generate revenue and save money wherever possible.

Amanda says it was right that islanders should have a chance to benefit from the sale of the unwanted items.

Dozens of locals showed an interest, attending viewings on Wednesday and the auction on Thursday.

Items have already been dispatched to purchasers including a local church, which bought a large collection of plastic chairs.
