Police Offering Free Diving Trial To Local Youngsters

normandy poolScilly’s youngsters are being offered the chance of a free trial dive with a specialist police team on Monday.

PCSO Shirley Graham says expert divers from the mainland Tactical Aid Group are coming over to train the local police team in sea survival techniques.

But they’ve also offered to provide diving experience to local school children who missed out during last November’s Citizenship Week, which was delayed because of bad weather.

Shirley says many of those year 10s can’t make it, so there’s around ten spare places going free.

She says the course, which usually takes place in Penzance, is great fun and a chance to learn from some of the country’s most highly trained divers.

Anyone wanting to take part will need to be aged between 14 and 18 years old and in good health. It’s taking place at Normandy Pool on the 2nd September, between 12pm and 4pm.

You can register by contacting the St Mary’s Police team.
