The Isles of Scilly Golf Club is to be featured in a programme on Sky TV.

And Club Captain, Dennis Milligan, is hoping it will encourage locals and holidaymakers to play a round at England’s most southwesterly course.

The 35-minute video was organised by Cornwall’s County Development Officer for golf, Simon Wood and features interviews with Dennis, as well as Secretary Peter Leahy and coach Derek Metcalf.

Denis says Simon is a big fan of the course and he’s focused on the unique and challenging 4th hole, which juts out above the sea.

There’s footage of the stunning views from the 18-hole course and from the clubhouse.

Simon was also impressed that the club is now run entirely by volunteers after the former groundsman left through ill health.

Dennis says it’s a good way to attract more active visitors to the islands especially as they can also use the recently installed bowling green.

He says numbers of players using the course are up this year, which is very encouraging.

The programme is due to be broadcast on Monday 2nd September at 9.30pm, as part of the ‘Golf in Cornwall’ series, which airs on Sky channel 212 and Freesat channel 401.
