Bryher Women Prepare For Kilimanjaro Climb

Amy Langdon and Ginny Hulands of Bryher are getting ready for their fundraising Mt Kilimanjaro climb for the Cornwall Air Ambulance.
They leave Scilly on the Scillonian III on Monday 9th September, and the whole group of 30, including Rebecca Douglas, fly out of Heathrow on 11th September. They arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport on 12th September and start their trek the next day. The trek is over 8 days – 6 days up and 2 days down.
Zoe and Isaac have been selling handmade jewellery outside Bryher Shop and have raised £100 towards their target.

They have also held a raffle at Fraggle Rock a couple of weeks ago, when the Steam Band were playing, and raised another £150 . The first prize of two return tickets on the Scillonian were very generously donated by the Isles of Scilly Steamship Group.
They have also received a number of donations from friends, family and visitors to the Islands . The women still have to raise around £600 to raise to reach their target, but they do have until mid November to do this. Amy says they are hoping to do something on their return when they will have lots of stories to tell and photos to show people!
