Scilly Councillor Praises NHS and Skybus

Chris Thomas writes;

I would like to give a big thank you to Skybus staff and West Cornwall Hospital for going the extra mile to ensure I had my procedure at the Department of Endoscopy yesterday. I arrived at St Mary’s Airport at 7.20am for the 8.10am flight to Lands End to make my 9.10am appointment at West Cornwall Hospital but frustratingly although it was sunny and clear here Lands End was shrouded in fog!! The information given by Skybus was that clearance was not anticipated before late morning. At 11.15am conditions at Lands End improving and aircraft preparing for departure and the first flight arrived at St. Mary’s at 11.40am but was held here due to fog again at Lands End. At 1pm informed 2 Otter aircraft were inbound to take the early Lands End passengers to Newquay with transport back to Penzance and Lands End.
West Cornwall Hospital was informed of our travel problems and agreed for me to still come for my procedure. I finally arrived at W.C.H. at3.30pm and the required staff stayed on to complete my procedure which was beyond their normal shift. I cannot thank the team enough for this dedication to service. I was released and picked up at 9.30pm which made it all a very long but worthwhile day.
I arrived back at St Mary’s on Scillonian III at lunch time after a very comfortable voyage.

Once more thank you Skybus and the NHS staff at West Cornwall Hospital for your considerable effort to deliver such good service to a patient.
