Islanders Offer Their Ideas Through Council Suggestion Box Scheme

suggestion box councilIslanders have offered a range of ideas on how Council services could be improved and money saved.

That’s the view of Community Relations Officer George Pearson, who received backing from councillors for his plan to install suggestion boxes around the islands in March.

George says they’ve currently been able to place them in St Mary’s Post Office, the Town Hall and Carn Gwavel Wellbeing Centre. There’s also a box inside the Turks Head pub on St Agnes and eventually they will be located in all off-island post offices.

Seven ideas have been posted and these cover topics from tackling St Mary’s road congestion to boosting tourism numbers and reducing mail costs.

He hopes that as a result of the Council management review and acknowledgement of each suggestion, that it will encourage residents and visitors to continue to use the scheme.

The suggestions will be shared with the relevant Council committees, says George, adding that there’s now also an online way to respond with a dedicated email address at suggestions@scilly.gov.uk
