Signal Overload Keeps Councillors In The ‘Digital’ Dark

The Old Wesleyan Chapel

The Council’s Wesleyan Chapel can be a highly charged location with heated debates and close voting.

But recently it’s been less about the politics and more about the technology that’s been driving councillors to despair.

There have been repeated problems with the wireless microphones and web streaming cutting out in the Chamber.

The Wi-Fi system, which allows councillors to use their laptops and iPads during debates, has also been temperamental.

The problem has now been diagnosed as signal overload – too many signals from all the various technology inside the Chapel and even from houses nearby interfering with each other.

The Council’s IT team have retuned all the systems so they work on different frequencies and everything is now back up and running and so far has been problem free.
