Tresco cricket pitch

Report by Mark Twynham

St Mary’s travelled to Tresco for a 20-over match yesterday evening.

Tresco won the toss and put St Mary’s in to bat.

There were two fantastic batting performances, one from Pixie who hit 73 with four straight 6s in one over, and then Kane Goddard made 48 not out.

St Mary’s went on to make 178 off their 20 overs.

Tresco then batted with a big total to chase down. The Hamilton pair opened the batting with Dave and son Luke going at a great rate, with 32 off the first 3 overs.

But when Dave got out with a great catch from Jessie Ware, the rate slowed and they ended up with a total of 130.

St Mary’s won by 48 runs.

The weather didn’t help the chase because the drizzle fell steadily and slowed the outfield up but we can probably say it was the best game of the season.

Well done to the St Mary’s novices David Guy, Rory Guy, Jessie Ware and Gary Hodge.
