Exhibition Of Old Photos Is A Crowd Pleaser

margaret thatcher visit 1973An exhibition of old photos from the islands has been so popular that the organisers are planning to run it again next season.

June Lethbridge says it’s been a hit, particularly with locals and visitors who have been coming to the islands for years.

The exhibition is on display all week in the Methodist Chapel, although it’s taken down on Sundays to allow the church service to take place.

June says there’s around 900 photos in the collection and it’s growing constantly, with a few new ones added each week.

These include snaps people have sent her, as well as images of the most recent events on the islands.

But June says it’s the old photos that are the most popular, especially of the boatmen from years gone by.

She says the wedding pictures and shots of May Days and carnivals also go down well.

The visitors’ book has lots of nice comments, says June, particularly from locals.

The exhibition will stay up until October and the money raised goes towards the Methodist Church funds.
