The Scillonian III delayed docking last night as Police carried out an arrest on Penzance quayside.

A man was arrested in connection with alleged drug trafficking.

Some passengers on board tweeted that they were in the dark about the 60-minute delay as the boat waited at the entrance to the harbour, before they could disembark.

A spokesman for the Isles of Scilly Steamship Company said: “Upon returning from St Mary’s to Penzance on Monday evening, the Scillonian III passenger ship with 282 passengers and 19 crew on board was asked by the police to remain offshore due to an incident on Penzance Quay.

“Scillonian III, which had been due to dock at 7.15pm, docked at 8.15pm and all passengers and crew disembarked safely. The company would like to thank passengers for their patience and understanding.”
