Scenes Of Scilly On Display Across The Pond
Images of Scilly are being viewed all over the USA this summer.
Artist Heatherbell Barlow’s postcard sized sketches are being shown as part of a mobile exhibition, which will visit San Francisco, Kansas City and Washington.
Heatherbell says she chose to illustrate the islands as she has visited every year for 25 years since first discovering us 1987.
She says Scilly has been an endless source of inspiration for her. Her sketchbooks, which are normally on display at Brooklyn Library, include a personal tribute to each island.
Heatherbell receives an email alert every time someone views her sketchbook, which tells her where in the States it is being seen.
She says most of her commissions have been of Scilly and are usually a favourite view that clients want hanging on their wall.
One of her original paintings is with Molly and David Peacock on St Agnes.
In November, the display will move to Melbourne in Australia.
