Cricket: St Martin’s v St Mary’s T20

st martins cricket pitch sign 2Report By Colin Daly

St. Mary’s travelled to St. Martin’s for a scheduled T20 match on Thursday (25th July) evening. This in spite of saying they were going to Tresco where one team member still made for until a mobile call brought him to St. Martin’s not too long after play started.

St. Martin’s batted first and scored a moderate 119 in their allotted overs with contributions from Richard of 24 not out and Louis Strong 22. Dan Goddard made a useful 13.

So it was up to St. Martin’s bowlers to do what they could and they rose to the occasion. K. Goddard was the highest scorer for his team with 25; L. Greenlaw made 20 before being run out.

Captain Mark Hicks tried to make it in the penultimate over but his partner was run out in the mad scramble with Mark on 23 and St. Mary’s all out for 103.

So a win for the home team.
