Cricket: St Martin’s v Bay’s Hill

st martins cricket pitch sign 2Report By Colin Daly

The weather kept us on tenterhooks with rain forecast and a heavy shower late morning but we pressed ahead with the preparations for the 26th annual visit of Bay’s Hill touring team.

So nice to greet old friends. As for rain during the match, it providentially fell during the tea interval so causing minimum delay.

Bay’s Hill won the toss and chose to bat first. The scoring was steady rather than spectacular.

The opener J. Wyatt top scored with 39 mostly in singles. A. Liley at number three was second highest with 24. The bowling was fairly tight but a score of 156 for 7 was set during the 25 overs.

It looked gettable after a six off the second ball but wickets tumbled with O. Lovejoy taking 4 and a young Ethan Badcock 3.  Will Ethan grow up to emulate his ‘famous’ father Joe?

St. Martin’s were all out for 86 so a win for the visitors.

Both sides repaired to Adam and Fiona’s establishment for refreshment and an analysis of the game.
