Permission Granted For New School Play Equipment

Planners have granted permission for new play equipment to be installed at the Five Islands School.

A crocodile swing as well as a play tower with pull up ramp, fireman’s pole, scramble net and slide will be located at the front of the school, near the amphitheatre.

They’re designed to help child development, particularly balance and body movement.

Planning Officer Harriet Bowen said the structures would need planning permission because they’ll be physically attached to the land and a permanent feature, so have to be dealt with as a ‘building.’

A new wooden adventure trail will also be installed although this doesn’t require planning permission.
